Known: Experiencing God in Daily Prayer

FAQs about our latest series

Why a series on Prayer?

Every Catholic Christian knows that prayer is important, that we should pray, but few of us have ever been taught how.  In this series, teens will not just learn about the building blocks of personal prayer time, they will also take time to practice and experience different types of prayer in order that they can build a habit of daily prayer.

For the last 4 decades, NET Ministries has been teaching its young missionaries how to pray.  The content of this series is inspired by this time-tested methodology affectionately called "Prayer Labs."

What's included?

  • 4 video sessions (approximately 15  minutes each) to teach and ignite discussion about prayer.
  • 3 non-video sessions for the group to practice prayer together.
  • A training session just for leaders on how to run this series effectively.
  • Leader Guides with carefully crafted discussion questions, suggested activities, and prayers  (Separate guides for middle school and high school)
  • Parent resources in English & Spanish
  • Participant Guides

Is there more than just videos and guides?

So. Much. More.

To help remove common barriers to prayer, we've created a couple of bonus products available for purchase at  Bulk purchase rates available.

Handlettered Bible Tabs

One of the biggest obstacles to praying with scripture is simply not knowing how to use the Bible in the first place.  That's why we have created self-adhesive, high-quality vinyl Bible tabs for the teens in your group to place on their Bible.  No more wasting time trying to flip through over 1000 pages looking for Jeremiah!  Now they can find it easily and get right to praying.

Designed exclusively for YDisciple by Ali Hoffman.

Hardcover Prayer Journal

To help teens put all the building blocks together, we have a designed a prayer journal that walks them through the steps of personal prayer with space to write.  It includes a 30-day walk through the gospels with key background information to help them understand the context of the gospel.

How do I use this series?

Every YDisciple series is designed specifically for small groups, whether they meet in person or online.  And thanks to our easily accessible streaming platform, sharing videos is easy.

Before using Known with a small group, we strongly recommend you first do our introductory series, The Invitation, a 4 session series on Discipleship.  This will lay a strong foundation for the small group as well as introduce concepts that will be key to breaking open Known such as the Kerygma and accountability.

A core value of YDisciple is customization. Here is just one of the possible ways it could be utilized with other content:

  • The Invitation (4 meetings)
  • One week break to do a social activity, prayer event, or service project
  • Known: Experiencing God in Daily Prayer (7 meetings)
  • Meet to discuss how using the Prayer Journal and 30-Day Walk with Jesus is going (4 meetings)
  • One week break to do a social activity, prayer event, or service project

= 17 meetings

...then choose from one of the many other YDisciple series!

Is the content Catholic?

We work hard to make sure YDisciple is faithful to the teaching of the Catholic Church.  It is also important to us that it is shaped by people who are doing actual ministry with young people. Here’s how:

  • Video scripts are written then approved by a team of people including youth ministers, Masters of Theology, and priests.
  • Discussion questions are crafted by youth ministers and Catholic school teachers.
  • Presenters are not actors, but real Catholics who do ministry in the Church in real life.
  • Even the video Production Team consists entirely of faithful Catholics who beautifully communicate the truth of Jesus and His Church through the storytelling, animation, and photography you see.
  • Most of all, YDisciple is a product of NET Ministries.  NET is a Catholic youth ministry organization that has 4 decades of experience doing retreat and discipleship ministry.  It operates under the ecclesiastical vigilance of the Archbishop of St. Paul & Minneapolis.
